You know the story.  It happens all the time in bluegrass. 

Man hits that big 4-0 birthday.  He takes up guitar. 

He’s lonesome, and that’s the way he sings.  High and lonesome.

Then, about 2009, four friends come to play and sing with him.  They bring their banjo, flute, fiddle, mandolin, and…uh, electric bass. 

Then the magic starts to happen.  Murder, dead bodies, alcohol abuse, failed relationships, hard economic times, bad weather, temptation, cheap moralizing.

Voila!  It's bluegrass, California-style. Fresh; never frenzied.  'Raditional but respectful.  Like fine wine with a kick...you want to savor it, and you want more.
